Dock Pickup Policy — Alaska Rugged Wear
Overview
Dock Pickup lets cruise guests order handmade jewelry online before their Juneau port day and meet a local maker for a short, prepaid handoff near the docks. Ship Home is always available if you’d rather enjoy Juneau empty-handed and get your piece after you get home.
This page covers who can use Dock Pickup, what we need on your order, pickup windows, meeting points, no-shows, ship delays, weather, and when we switch an order to Ship Home.
Eligibility
- Dock Pickup is offered only on in-stock pieces in our Dock-Pickup Ready collection.
- Need only 24 hours before your Juneau arrival date. We only list what’s in stock on the site, so every piece is deliverable. Same-day requests may be declined or moved to Ship Home.
- Dock Pickup is for prepaid online orders only. We do not take cash at the dock.
Required order details
When you choose Dock Pickup at checkout, please include:
- Ship name (cruise ship)
- Juneau arrival date
- Mobile phone (so we can text your window and landmark)
- Fulfillment choice: Dock Pickup or Ship Home
Missing or inaccurate details may delay confirmation or mean we fulfill by Ship Home instead.
Confirmation & pickup window
- After your order, we confirm inventory and reply with a pickup window and a named public meeting landmark near the docks (not inside secure terminal zones).
- Windows are typically short (about 10–15 minutes) so you can keep excursion plans.
- We text the day before (and/or morning of) with final landmark details when your ship schedule is clear.
- Bring your order confirmation (email/SMS) and a name match for the order.
Meeting point rules
- Meetings are appointment-based at a lawful public landmark we name in your confirmation.
- We do not board ships, solicit on the pier, hand out flyers, or meet inside secure embarkation / debarkation zones.
- Exact landmark may change for weather, construction, ship schedule, or security — we will text updates to the mobile on your order.
Ship late, weather, or schedule change
If your ship is late, diverted, or weather / port conditions make a safe public handoff impractical:
- We will attempt to reschedule within your shore time when possible, or
- Automatically convert the order to Ship Home (prepaid shipping / insurance as applicable) and email tracking.
You will not be left without a fulfillment path.
No-show policy
If you miss the confirmed window and we cannot reach you by the mobile on the order during your Juneau shore day:
- The order converts to Ship Home to the address on the order (or an address you provide by email/text the same day).
- No-show does not cancel the order. Jewelry that was reserved and packed for you remains yours and will ship home unless you contact us the same day to arrange another option we can honor.
- Refunds for no-shows follow our Refund policy only when we cancel or cannot fulfill; choosing Dock Pickup and missing the window is not automatic cancellation.
Capacity & daily caps
To keep handoffs reliable, we may cap Dock Pickup orders per ship day. If capacity is full, checkout or confirmation will steer you to Ship Home or a later date.
Ship Home option
You may choose Ship Home at checkout, or we may fulfill by Ship Home under the rules above. Processing is typically 1–2 business days once the order is ready to ship; carriers and rates follow our Shipping policy (USPS and UPS; calculated at checkout). Enjoy Juneau empty-handed; your piece arrives after you get home.
